About Spanzo
Spanzo is a free daily estimation game. Each round is a question with a number for an answer, and instead of typing a guess you place it on a scale between two things you already know. The game launched on 12 October 2026 and publishes one new Daily every day.
Why it exists
Most trivia punishes you for not knowing a fact. We wanted a game about the thing you can always do: reason from what you know to what you do not. You may not know the height of the Eiffel Tower, but you know it is taller than the Statue of Liberty and shorter than the Burj Khalifa, and that is enough to score. The scale rewards the educated guess, the anchors give everyone a starting point, and the reveal tells you a short, true thing you did not know a minute ago.
We also wanted a daily ritual that fits in two minutes and ends with a reason to talk to someone: every finished Daily becomes a challenge link, and the person who opens it plays your exact five rounds.
How the questions are made
Every question in Spanzo is written to the same standard: one defensible answer, a scale wide enough to be fair, two anchors more famous than the mystery item, and a source that a reviewer can open and check. Sources are preferred in this order: the body that owns the fact (a space agency, a statistics office, a sports federation, a company newsroom), then open-licensed datasets such as Wikidata and the World Bank, then primary documents. Encyclopaedias and news reports are used only to verify, never copied. Explanations are written in our own words.
Questions are drafted with the help of software and language-model tools, then validated automatically (does the answer sit on the scale, are the anchors far enough apart, does one displayed step cost too many points, is a moving value pinned to a year) and checked against the cited source before they can be approved. Only approved questions appear in the game. Values that change over time, like populations or records, state their year in the question. If you think a round is wrong, every reveal has a Report button, and reports are reviewed; a corrected or retired question is swapped out of future play.
A question is a Daily round at most once, ever. Past Dailies live in the archive, and the Endless mode draws from a separate pool, so playing more never tells you tomorrow's answers. The full rules of the Daily mix are on the how to play page.
How it stays free
Today's Daily, streaks, stats, the leaderboard and unlimited friend challenges are free and always will be. Free play is supported by a small number of display ads shown outside the five rounds (never on a phone while you are placing a guess). Spanzo Pro, at $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year, adds unlimited solo play, category runs, the whole archive and removes ads. Pro never buys points, hints or an easier Daily.
Accessibility and fairness
The game works with touch, mouse and keyboard; every colour is paired with a word and a number; there is a reduce-motion setting; and answers are scored on our servers so nobody's score depends on their device or their connection. Everyone plays the same 5 rounds in the same order.
